Create a Blog or Portfolio Website for Free

Wednesday, January 27, 2021 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Location: Online

This workshop will teach the basics of how to create a free blog or portfolio website using a static site generator (SSG), and how to host it online for free. All of the tools used will either be freely available online tools and/or applications which can be downloaded for free. Additional concepts include using basic Git commands with GitHub, the world’s number one platform for hosting source code.

Take & Make - Hygge

Thursday, January 28, 2021 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Online

Hygge (“Hoo-gah") encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. This program is intended to promote this feeling, reduce stress and isolation during the dark winter months that all are experiencing during this pandemic. You will be emailed to let you know when you can pick up your Take & Make kit that contains:  Hot Chocolate, Tea, Surprise Book, Candles, Activity Book, and Resources.

New Year—New Tech: Homework Help at the Library

Friday, January 29, 2021 - 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: Online

The program will demonstrate how to find, download, and use Library Apps on android devices, including mobile phones and tablets. With the redesign of the Library website, clients will be shown the location of free library apps. Attention will be given to Cloud Library and Libby with an explanation of the similarities and differences in the apps and how clients to access features such as audio books, sleep timers and “available now.”

Virtual Open House - Draft Carruthers Creek Watershed Plan

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, in collaboration with Durham Region, is hosting two virtual open houses about the draft Carruthers Creek Watershed Plan. Monday, February 1 and Thursday, February 4.  Learn more and register for the events. Weekly When-You-Wanna Trivia (Ages 5-12)

Every week we'll release a Kahoot trivia challenge online. Kids can play them whenever they want, using any internet-connected device. Whether you are knitting, crocheting, crafting, printing, building, or just socializing - you can do it online through Zoom! Bring your own projects, share ideas, and get creative. This will be online only, register to be sent the Zoom link. All you need is a smartphone/device, computer, or even a home phone!

ParTEAcipation - Virtual Workshop

This program will be offered on the Zoom platform. Confirmed registrants will receive log in details. This is an unique and novel program designed for adults of all ages. Grab a cup of tea and join us as we exercise the body and stimulate the brain in a party atmosphere. Through different activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul.  You will laugh, learn and meet new people.  You will dance, play mind games, and do mental exercises that will combat cognitive decline.  A great way to keep our bodies and minds fit and healthy.
